      OOCYTE PREPARATION

After the cumulus oophorus complex (COC) is flushed
from the follicle, it must be cultured in a special culture
media in an incubator rich in CO2 gas.  Once it has finished
the first phase on meiosis and expelled a polar body, it is
ready to inject with a sperm cell.
However, in order to inject it, the cells of the cumulus
oophorus and the corona radiata must  be removed.  This
is accomplished with and enzyme solution and mechanical
manipulation with a small pipette.  This procedure is called
    denuding.
